Ed Hickman

Ed has always had a passion for design & building. At school his real interests lay in art or resistant materials classes. Ed studied carpentry at college & started an apprenticeship with a local joinery firm from whom he learned his trade & developed his skills.

After several years Ed moved onto a different company & was responsible for the manufacture of bespoke joinery for a luxury tree house company. This gave Ed the opportunity to learn more about the architectural design of joinery & how it plays such a huge part in the overall aesthetics of a building. To gain a better understanding of timber & the tools used to work it, Ed enrolled in a carving course where he spent three years learning the techniques for sculpting & letter cutting.

After a few more years as workshop manager the opportunity arose to set up his own workshop & everything has gone from there. He now runs a small team of joiners, fitters & finishers.
